A power trip usually means a protective device has detected a condition that should be checked before the circuit is simply switched back on again and again.

Start with the symptoms

Note whether the trip happens immediately, only when one appliance is used, or after several appliances run together. This pattern is useful for fault finding.

Do not repeatedly reset a circuit that will not stay on

If a breaker or residual-current device trips again immediately, stop repeated resetting and arrange an inspection. Unusual heat, burning smells or visible damage should be treated as urgent warning signs.
